These spooky spider deviled eggs are a fun, easy-to-make Halloween party snack that combines creamy, tangy egg filling with cute olive spider legs. They are a crowd-pleaser that balances flavor and festive presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (Hellmann’s or Duke’s recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon whole-grain mustard
  • 12 teaspoons pickle brine
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Smoked paprika, for dusting
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced into thin rounds
  • 5060 small toothpicks
  • Caviar or small capers, for eyes

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a large pot and cover with cold water by an inch.
  2. Bring water to a rolling boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  3. Transfer eggs to an ice bath and cool for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Peel the eggs under running water and slice them in half lengthwise.
  5. Scoop out yolks into a mixing bowl and mash with a fork until fine.
  6. Add mayonnaise, yellow mustard, whole-grain mustard, pickle brine, salt, and pepper; mix until smooth.
  7. Transfer filling to a piping bag or ziplock bag with the corner cut off.
  8. Pipe or spoon filling into egg white halves, creating a mound slightly higher than the edge.
  9. Refrigerate filled eggs for 10 minutes to set.
  10. Insert toothpicks into the filling and attach olive slices to create spider legs.
  11. Place caviar or capers on the filling for eyes.
  12. Dust with smoked paprika and serve chilled.

Notes

Room temperature eggs are easier to peel. Do not overmix the yolks to avoid a grainy texture. Store in the fridge for up to two days; do not freeze. Add spider decorations the day of serving to prevent olives from drying out.
