A quick and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough with mustard eyes, perfect for parties and kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 standard beef, chicken, or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Shredded mild cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly score the hot dogs lengthwise with a sharp knife, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and tear along perforated lines to create strips 1 to 1.5 inches wide.
  4. Wrap a dough strip around each hot dog in a spiral pattern, leaving the top end exposed for the face.
  5. Squeeze small dots of yellow mustard onto the exposed ends of the hot dogs to create eyes.
  6. Place mummies on baking sheets, leaving space between them. Brush with egg wash if using.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and puffy.
  8. Cool for a couple of minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent tearing. If the mustard runs, chill the mummies for 10 minutes before baking. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crescent dough. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or freeze unbaked.
