Ingredients

  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese (block, sliced or cubed)
  • Gouda or Smoked Gouda (wedge or block, cubed)
  • Brie (whole wheel)
  • Salami or Pepperoni (sliced)
  • Prosciutto (thinly sliced)
  • Mini Pretzels or Pretzel Sticks
  • Assorted Crackers (butter, wheat, flavored)
  • Mixed Nuts (roasted and salted almonds, cashews, or peanuts)
  • Candy Corn (classic or pumpkin-shaped mellowcremes)
  • Mini Candy Bars (fun-size Snickers, Milky Ways, or Twix)
  • Chocolate-Covered Pretzels (fall colors optional)
  • Dried Fruit (apricots, cranberries, or figs)
  • Apple Slices (green or red)
  • Grapes (red or green)
  • Fresh Rosemary or Thyme (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start with the Bowls: Place small bowls or ramekins on the board first for items like candy corn, nuts, and dips. Space them out as anchors.
  2. Add the Cheeses: Place cheese wedges or cubes in different areas. Slice cheddar into triangles or cubes; place brie whole with a knife.
  3. Arrange the Meats: Fold salami or prosciutto into loose ribbons or triangles and place near cheeses. Fan out or create small piles.
  4. Fill in with Crackers and Pretzels: Arrange crackers and pretzels in small clusters around cheese and meat, overlapping slightly for abundance.
  5. Add the Sweet Treats: Place candy corn in bowls. Arrange mini candy bars and chocolate-covered pretzels in small piles, spreading them out for balance.
  6. Incorporate the Fruit: Add apple slices and grapes in small clusters or fanned out for color and freshness.
  7. Garnish and Fill: Fill remaining spaces with mixed nuts and dried fruit. Tuck fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs around the board.
  8. Serve Immediately: Serve at room temperature. Take cheese out of fridge 30 minutes before assembling. Provide small plates and napkins.

Notes

Prep ingredients ahead: slice cheese, wash fruit, portion nuts and candy. Assemble just before serving to keep crackers crunchy. For a vegetarian version, omit meats and add more cheese, nuts, and dried fruit. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crackers and pretzels. Candy corn can get sticky in warm conditions; keep in a bowl away from moist fruit.
