Football Chex Mix - featured image

A quick, crunchy, and savory snack mix made with just five ingredients. Perfect for game day, this recipe uses rice cereal, cheese crackers, butter, and ranch seasoning for a crowd-pleasing treat that is ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Cracker Crumbs (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)
  • 1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix (about 1 ounce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a 9×13 inch roasting pan with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Place cheese crackers in a large ziplock bag and crush them into small, bite-sized pieces (coarse sand consistency).
  3. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe cup on high for 30-45 seconds until fully melted but not boiling.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex cereal and crushed crackers.
  5. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix over the dry ingredients and toss gently to coat.
  6. Pour the melted butter over the mixture and fold until every piece is evenly coated in butter.
  7. Spread the mixture onto the prepared pan in an even layer.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even toasting.
  9. Remove from oven when light golden brown and let cool completely on the counter for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Cool the mix completely before storing to ensure crunchiness. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Do not refrigerate. For a spicy kick, swap ranch mix for taco seasoning. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free Chex and crackers.
