A quick and easy air fryer recipe that delivers crispy skin salmon glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, paired with tender fresh asparagus. Perfect for a nourishing weeknight dinner with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 1 lb / 450 g), trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or local)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin preferred)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the honey garlic sauce by whisking together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  2. Trim the woody ends off the asparagus and toss in a small bowl with a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper for a light coating.
  3. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and pepper. Remove any pin bones if present.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, spaced apart, and arrange asparagus alongside with room for air circulation.
  6. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 8 minutes to crisp the skin and begin roasting asparagus.
  7. Carefully flip the salmon skin-side up and brush the honey garlic sauce generously over the salmon and lightly over the asparagus.
  8. Return to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until salmon is cooked through and glaze is caramelized; asparagus should be tender but crisp.
  9. Check doneness by ensuring salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Cook 1-2 minutes longer if needed.
  10. Let salmon rest for 2 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon skin completely dry before cooking to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation. Apply honey garlic glaze after initial crisping to prevent burning. Check salmon early during final cooking phase if your air fryer runs hot. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari. For vegan version, replace salmon with thick tofu slices and honey with maple syrup.
