Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup (85 g) honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) melted butter

Instructions

  1. Pat dry 2 pounds of chicken wings thoroughly with paper towels and separate into drumettes and flats if needed.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss wings with 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space for air circulation.
  5. Cook wings for 25-28 minutes, flipping halfway through at 12-14 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While wings cook, whisk together honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and melted butter in a small bowl.
  7. Once wings are cooked, transfer to a large bowl and toss with the spicy hot honey glaze until fully coated.
  8. Serve wings immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

Pat wings dry before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Use baking powder, not baking soda, for the crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Flip wings halfway through cooking. Toss wings in glaze after cooking to avoid steaming or burning. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut or neutral oil. Wings can be baked in the oven at 425°F for 40-45 minutes on a wire rack if no air fryer is available.
