These Easy Football-Shaped Buffalo Chicken Dip Bites are crispy, creamy, spicy, and shaped like tiny footballs. Perfect for game day, they come together in about 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works beautifully)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 package (about 48) square wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Optional: sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning for garnish
  • Extra ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping
  • Celery sticks and carrot sticks for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo hot sauce, shredded cheddar, ranch dressing, crumbled blue cheese (if using), garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  3. Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean work surface. Cover unused wrappers with a slightly damp paper towel to prevent drying.
  4. Place about 1 heaping teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Do not overfill.
  5. To shape into footballs: Fold the wonton in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing edges to seal. Then bring the two bottom corners together and pinch to seal, forming a little ‘boat’ shape. Optionally trim edges with kitchen shears to round them out.
  6. Arrange filled wontons on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each.
  7. Lightly brush the tops of each wonton with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and crispy on the edges. Rotate the pan halfway through if needed.
  9. Let the bites rest on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.
  10. For air fryer: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Arrange in a single layer, brush with butter, and air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Notes

Don’t skip softening the cream cheese to avoid lumps. Shred chicken finely for easier filling. Seal wonton edges well to prevent blowouts. Watch baking time closely as wontons brown fast. Can assemble a few hours ahead and refrigerate unbaked. Double the batch for parties.
