A quick and easy honey garlic glazed salmon recipe perfect for weeknight dinners, featuring a sticky sweet glaze and tender, flaky salmon.

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on or skinless
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with black pepper. Let sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Warm for 1-2 minutes until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down (if skin-on) in the hot skillet. Press down lightly with a spatula for about 10 seconds to prevent curling. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving until golden crust forms.
  5. Carefully flip the salmon over using a spatula. Immediately pour the honey garlic glaze over the fillets.
  6. Spoon the glaze over the salmon as it cooks for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens and bubbles. Cook to an internal temperature of about 125°F (52°C) for medium rare or longer if preferred.
  7. Remove salmon from the pan and let rest on a plate for 2 minutes. Spoon any remaining glaze from the pan over the top and garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crisp skin and better caramelization. Keep heat medium to medium-low when glazing to prevent burning. Rest salmon after cooking to lock in juices. Glaze can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Optional: add chili flakes for heat or fresh herbs for flavor variation.
