Easy Creamy Dirt Cups Recipe with Gummy Worms Perfect for Kids Party

Easy Creamy Dirt Cups - featured image

A nostalgic and playful dessert featuring creamy chocolate pudding layered with crushed Oreos and gummy worms, perfect for kids’ parties and quick treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packets instant chocolate pudding mix (about 6 oz or 170 g total)
  • 3 cups cold milk (whole or 2%)
  • 20 Oreos, crushed finely (regular or chocolate sandwich cookies)
  • 1 cup gummy worms (about 50 g)
  • 1 cup whipped topping, thawed (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened and creamy.
  2. Optional: Gently fold in 1 cup of thawed whipped topping to the pudding mixture for extra creaminess.
  3. Crush 20 Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or place in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until crumbly but not powdery.
  4. Layer the cups by spooning a few tablespoons of crushed Oreos into each cup to create the base layer, then add about 1/4 cup of pudding. Repeat with another Oreo layer and finish with pudding on top.
  5. Stick 2-3 gummy worms into each cup, letting them peek out like they’re wriggling in the dirt.
  6. Refrigerate the dirt cups for at least 1 hour before serving to allow layers to set and flavors to meld.

Notes

Use cold milk for best pudding texture. Do not crush Oreos too finely to maintain authentic dirt texture. Add gummy worms just before serving to avoid stickiness. Can substitute gummy worms with fresh berries or fruit slices for a seasonal twist. For dairy-free, use almond or oat milk and coconut-based whipped topping. For gluten-free, use gluten-free sandwich cookies and pudding mix.
