These sliders combine soft, slightly sweet Hawaiian rolls with smoky ham and melted Swiss cheese, topped with a buttery honey-mustard glaze for a perfect party snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls (soft and slightly sweet, e.g., King’s Hawaiian)
  • 12 thin slices ham (deli-style or leftover baked ham)
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese (or cheddar as substitute)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally as a whole cluster to create a top and bottom half connected like a sandwich slab.
  3. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9×13-inch baking dish, pressing gently to fit snugly.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  5. Add a layer of Swiss cheese slices on top of the ham.
  6. Replace the top half of the Hawaiian rolls over the cheese layer, pressing gently.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth.
  8. Brush the glaze generously over the top of the sandwich slab.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5-7 minutes until tops are golden and slightly crisped.
  11. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into individual sliders.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for easier mixing. Slice rolls carefully to avoid squishing. Cover with foil while baking to keep rolls moist and cheese melted. Let sliders rest before slicing to avoid mess. For extra gooey cheese, add an additional cheese layer or broil briefly if needed.
